The Claremont Clarinet Festival, now in its 7th year, presents 14 solo
clarinetists from around the world, performing three concerts on the
campus of Pomona College. Read about the Claremont Clarinet Festival

Young artists join adult chamber musicians, performance graduates, and
current students from San Francisco Conservatory, California State
University, California Institute of the Arts, Azusa Pacific University,
University of Florida, University of Puget Sound, University of Akron,
Concordia University, Irvine, and Mansfield College for a week of study
and performance coached by festival artistic director, MARGARET
THORNHILL, and her guests, UCLA professor GARY GRAY, and DAVID HOWARD,
bass clarinetist of the LA Philharmonic.

Clarinetists are: Bruce Belton, Allyson Edington, Andrew Friedman,
Christin Hablewitz, Michael Hong, Gwen Hutchings, Michael Miller,
Charles Min, Andrew Moses, Charlotte Palmiter, Ann Satterfield, David
Seta, and Jessica Windle. Twyla Meyer and Althea Waites are the
collaborative pianists for the event.

Solos and duos by Brahms, Cahuzac, Kibbe, Kovacs, Martinu, Messiaen,
Milhaud, Muczynski, Poulenc, Rhodes, Szalowski, and Weber

Saturday, June 16, 2012 -  2:30PM - Clarinet Masterworks
Selections by Brahms, Babin, Bozza, Debussy, Honegger, Horovitz, Huydts,
Kovacs, Rozsa, Muczynski, Osborne, St. Saens, and Ziporyn

Saturday, June 16, 2012 -  8:00PM - New Music for Clarinet Ensembles
Guests JOANNA MALFATTI percussion and CHRISTIN HABLEWITZ steel pan
Trios, quartets, and a 15-member clarinet choir perform selections by
Pacquito d'Rivera, Mike Curtis, Ástor Piazzolla, Itaru Sakai, Jan van
der Roost; the Benny Goodman big band favorite "Sing, Sing, Sing" and
the Trinidad-Tobago hit, "Play Mr. Pannist, Play." WENDY MAZON conducts.
